Description: The Office of General Counsel is in-house counsel to the State Bar of California, providing a full range of legal services, including representing the State Bar in all state and federal courts and before administrative agencies; advocacy of State Bar discipline and admission cases in the California Supreme Court; and, providing legal advice to the State Bar Board of Trustees, committees, commissions, and staff in labor relations, intellectual property, real estate, regulatory work, and general corporate matters.
This position will provide administrative support to the Office of General Counsel’s disciplinary complaint review unit. The duties will include, among other things, regular contact with the public, finalizing, proofreading, and filing correspondence and maintaining both physical and electronic records and files. Key to this position is the ability to engage professionally with the public and staff, communicate clearly and effectively in person and in writing, and effectively multitask in a quick-paced environment. Other duties include entering data and updating matters on a case management system, maintaining calendars, scanning documents, document reproduction, and coordinating the receipt and delivery of files. Qualified applicants will have knowledge of computer information systems, including spreadsheet programs and word processing programs. This position works closely with the other administrative positions in the Office of General Counsel and provides assistance to the office as a whole. Good judgment and a respect for confidentiality are essential.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and Minimum two (2) years post-secondary education and Minimum two (2) years relevant experience. Successful completion of the State Bar validated Standard tests for the position. Accomplished computer keyboarding skills.
Annual Salary Range: $56,592 - $76,555

Description: The State Bar of California is a public corporation within the judicial branch of government that regulates California lawyers to protect the public and seeks to enhance the administration of justice for all citizens. The Office of General Counsel (OGC) employs the in-house attorneys to the State Bar. The legal work includes advice to and representation of the State Bar Board of Trustees, committees and staff in administrative and civil trial and appellate litigation and transactional work in substantive areas such as: Bar discipline and admissions; labor and employment; copyright; real estate; contracts; regulatory work; governance; public records and open meeting laws; and general corporate matters.
Attorney I - Must be an active member, in good standing, of the State Bar of California. Active membership in the State Bar of California Accomplished computer keyboarding skills.
Attorney II - Must be an active member, in good standing, of the State Bar of California and Minimum two (2) years progressively more responsible experience in litigation and/or transactional legal work demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary for this position and accomplished computer keyboarding skills.
Attorney III - Must be an active member, in good standing, in the State Bar of California and Minimum four (4) years progressively responsible and pertinent experience in litigation and/or transactional legal work which demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to this position. Accomplished computer keyboarding skills.
