Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles Seeking Attorney for Board Vacancy Monday, October 1, 2018 Categories: News Releases The State Bar of California is seeking applications from attorneys interested in serving on the Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA). The term of office is three years, with the successful candidate eligible for re-appointment for an additional term. Deadline for receipt of applications is October 31, 2018. LAFLA is a non-profit law firm that is a Legal Services Corporation-funded program created to protect and advance the rights of the most underserved – leveling the playing field and ensuring that everyone can have access to the justice system. The 54-member Board meets at least six times a year to make policy decisions governing the program's operations. Additional information on LAFLA is available online. Eligible applicants must be State Bar licensees and have an interest in and knowledge of the delivery of quality legal services to the poor. Members of the Board of Directors of LAFLA are also expected to support the fundraising activities of the organization and make an individual contribution according to their ability. Applications will be initially reviewed by the LAFLA Board of Directors. Interested attorneys should apply by letter, listing the reasons they should be appointed.
