State Bar of California Launches All-Licensee Survey on Impacts Experienced in 2020 Tuesday, April 13, 2021 Categories: News Releases The State Bar is asking its 260,000 licensees about their experiences over the last year in its 2020 Impact Survey, which launched today. “The State Bar seeks to learn about the impact on our licensees of the COVID-19 pandemic and the national reckoning on racial justice that began in 2020. We are also seeking to learn about the perceived impact of these unprecedented changes on employers’ efforts to recruit and retain a diverse attorney workforce,” said Donna Hershkowitz, Interim Executive Director. “We hope to collect and analyze a rich dataset representing one of the largest and most diverse state bars in the nation. This information will help inform policies and programs not only at the State Bar, but also in workplaces that employ lawyers throughout California, furthering our work to promote a diverse, equitable, and inclusive legal profession.” Survey topics include how the pandemic affected attorneys’ work and the availability of work, perceptions about employer support for diverse and inclusive work environments, challenges they may have faced in their work life, the employee resources they found most helpful, and licensees’ biggest concerns in the next six months. The 10-minute online survey, sent to both active and inactive licensees by email invitation, is voluntary and confidential. No personally identifiable information will be reported or shared outside of the State Bar. The response deadline is April 26. The agency anticipates reporting on results by mid-2021. ### Follow the State Bar online Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram The State Bar of California's mission is to protect the public and includes the primary functions of licensing, regulation and discipline of attorneys; the advancement of the ethical and competent practice of law; and support of efforts for greater access to, and inclusion in, the legal system.
