State Bar of California seeks candidates for appointment to the California Rural Legal Assistance Board Friday, April 13, 2018 Categories: News Releases The State Bar of California is seeking candidates for a position on the California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA) Board of Directors, which is a nonprofit that works to increase legal aid in the state's attorney-strapped rural counties. The deadline to apply to fill the one open position is May 18, 2018. The appointment is for two years, with the successful candidate eligible for re-appointment for two additional terms. The nonprofit legal services corporation (CRLA) is a program created to provide legal assistance to the rural poor. The 45-member board meets four times a year to make policy decisions governing the program's operations. Eligible applicants must: Be licensed by the State Bar of California Support the purposes of the Legal Services Corporation Act and have an interest in and knowledge of the delivery of quality legal services to the poor Submit a letter of interest indicating their connection with rural low-income communities and or farm worker communities Send a letter of interest and a resume outlining work experience, community activity and educational background to: Rodney Low Office of Legal Services, State Bar of California 180 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA 94105.
