Arbitrator nominated to conduct Dunn Arbitration Tuesday, December 22, 2015 Categories: News Releases Contact: Laura Ernde 415-538-2283 barcomm@calbar.ca.gov SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 22, 2015 – The State Bar of California announced today that a judge has nominated former U.S. District Court Chief Magistrate Judge Edward A. Infante as the arbitrator to resolve a lawsuit brought by its former executive director. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael J. Raphael yesterday rejected former Executive Director Joseph Dunn’s last-minute request to expand the list of potential arbitrators from which to choose or to resort to another list of arbitrators. Instead, Raphael chose Infante, who was the only name that appeared on the lists of 15 arbitrators that each side provided to the judge on Dec. 21. The selection of Infante will become final five days after the judge’s order unless the parties agree to a different arbitrator. “The State Bar welcomes this appointment and the opportunity to at last bring this litigation to an orderly and prompt resolution,” Executive Director Elizabeth Rindskopf Parker said. The State Bar has maintained Dunn’s Nov. 14, 2014, whistleblower lawsuit is baseless and that it could terminate Dunn with or without cause under the terms of his contract. Dunn’s lawsuit was ordered to binding arbitration last June. Two full-day mediation sessions that took place Sept. 14 and Nov. 6 were not successful. Previous Article Next Article
