Omid E. Talai has shown a commitment to public service and community outreach his entire life. After graduating cum laude from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, Law and Society, Mr. Talai received his Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law in 2007.
Mr. Talai is currently an assistant district attorney with the San Francisco District Attorney's office. Prior to returning to his hometown of San Francisco in 2010, Mr. Talai served as a deputy district attorney in Los Angeles County for close to three years.
In his five years as a prosecutor, Mr. Talai has handled various cases ranging from sexual assault, financial fraud, domestic violence, gangs and homicides. Mr. Talai takes pride in the prosecution of serious and violent cases, while employing a multi-faceted approach to prosecution that stresses rehabilitation and community outreach when appropriate.
In addition to his public service work as a prosecutor, Mr. Talai volunteered through Project L.E.A.D., a program teaching fifth-grade students about the law and helping them recognize social and legal consequences of criminal behavior. Mr. Talai has also served as a mentor in the Children of Prisoner's program where he regularly met with a young boy whose father was incarcerated.
Mr. Talai sees the prospect to serve on the Board of Trustees of the State Bar of California as a unique opportunity to continue to serve his immediate and surrounding community.
