Automated Transaction Identifier (ATI) NumberUpon submitting fingerprints through a Live Scan vendor, the Live Scan technician will sign the bottom of the Live Scan form and write in a unique 10-digit ATI number associated with your specific fingerprints. This number is assigned to your fingerprint impressions. The California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) receive your fingerprint impressions, ATI number, and any information entered by the Live Scan technician that was included on the Live Scan form. The attorney must retain the ATI number as proof of submitting fingerprints to the Live Scan vendor.
Criminal Offender Record InformationCriminal Offender Record Information (CORI) refers to records and data compiled by criminal justice agencies for purposes of identifying criminal offenders and of maintaining as to each such offender a summary of arrests, pretrial proceedings, the nature and disposition of criminal charges, sentencing, incarceration, rehabilitation, and release.
Live ScanLive Scan is a way to take inkless fingerprints, which are then digitized and transmitted directly to the DOJ. The DOJ then checks the fingerprints against known criminal history records. A response (criminal history or no criminal history) is then sent to the agency requesting the Live Scan. A similar process is completed with the FBI.
Subsequent Arrest Notification Report Subsequent Arrest Notification (SAN) reports are reports issued by the DOJ to any agency authorized by Section 11105 of the Penal Code to receive state summary criminal history information to assist in fulfilling employment, licensing, or certification duties upon the arrest of any person whose fingerprints are maintained on file at the DOJ as the result of an application for licensing, employment, certification, or approval. The Subsequent Arrest Notification reports shall consist only of any offense an individual is arrested for after the individual’s original fingerprint date for an authorized applicant agency.
