State Bar attorneys who are certified specialists must file a separate report on their Legal Specialist Continuing Legal Education (LSCLE) at the same time they file their Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) report.
The deadline is generally the same as for other attorney groups. Certified specialists should file a different form, called a compliance card, reporting completion of 36 hours of LSCLE by the same deadline.
Certified specialists in Compliance Group 2 (last names beginning with H-M upon admittance) are due to report compliance of the 36 hour LSCLE requirement by Feb. 1, 2024.
Legal Specialization Rule 3.114(A)(2) states that certified specialists must report their legal specialist education every three years, but still recertify every five years.
With the reporting cycles for MCLE education compliance and legal specialist education compliance synchronized, reporting education will be more convenient for certified specialists.
